Day 1: Marangu Gate (1,860m) to Mandara Hut (2,700m)
Your adventure begins at the Marangu Gate, where you'll register and meet your guide and porters.
The first day's trek takes you through the dense rainforest, filled with rich flora and fauna.
You'll hike for about 4-6 hours to reach Mandara Hut, where you'll spend your first night.
Day 2: Mandara Hut (2,700m) to Horombo Hut (3,720m)
The trail continues through the rainforest, gradually changing to moorland.
As you ascend, you'll get glimpses of the spectacular Kilimanjaro scenery.
The trek takes about 6-8 hours, and you'll stay overnight at Horombo Hut.
Day 3: Horombo Hut (3,720m) to Kibo Hut (4,703m)
Today's trek involves a gradual ascent through the Alpine desert.
You'll reach Kibo Hut, situated at the base of the Kibo Crater, after approximately 6-8 hours.
This day is crucial for acclimatisation, and you'll rest early in preparation for the summit push.
Day 4: Kibo Hut (4,703m) to Uhuru Peak (5,895m) and descend to Horombo Hut (3,720m)
The summit attempt begins in the early hours (usually around midnight) to reach Uhuru Peak at sunrise.
The ascent to Uhuru Peak is challenging but rewarding, taking about 6-8 hours.
After reaching the summit, you'll descend to Kibo Hut for a short rest before continuing down to Horombo Hut for the night.
Day 5: Horombo Hut (3,720m) to Marangu Gate (1,860m)
The final day involves descending through the rainforest, completing the trek.
It takes about 5-7 hours to reach the Marangu Gate.
After reaching the gate, you'll receive your summit certificates and celebrate your achievement.
