Portomarin
  • 5h
You will begin your first day as pilgrims with a first stage characterised by the majesty of its forests, rivers and small rural villages surrounded by pastures. You will walk through a comfortable terrain and without many slopes, discovering as you go some monuments such as the Church of Ferreiros or that of Barbadelo. You will also find many places to refresh yourself and rest. A few kilometres before reaching the end of the stage, you will see the Belesar reservoir in the distance, an indicator that you are already reaching the end of the stage, Portomarín. Portomarín is a place as beautiful as it is peculiar. This town had to be relocated from its original enclave to a higher point in the valley, due to the construction of the Belesar reservoir on the Miño river, which caused the flooding of the old town's enclave. On a clear day you can see the remains of the old Portomarín at the bottom of the river. You will be able to enjoy the local gastronomy, moments of relaxation and rest.
Day 3: Stage Portomarín - Palas de Rei (25 km)
  • 1 stop
  • Meals: breakfast
  • Accommodation: Accommodation in a room with private bathroom in one of our Hotels and rural houses.
Palas de Rei
  • 5h
In this stage you will combine road and mountain for 25 kilometres of route. After climbing some slopes, it will be worthwhile to make a small detour along the way to visit the Castro de Castromaior, a Celtic town that leaves evidence of the past of the Galician community. After passing several villages, you can visit the monastery and the church of Vilar de Donas, one of the main examples of the Romanesque style in the area, which was declared a National Monument in 1931. Already in Palas de Rei, where you will have all the services, you will only have to worry about resting and discovering the wonders of the town. Place of castrex roots, Palas de Rei has various archaeological remains such as mámoas, dolmens or castros, which are witnesses of this culture.
Day 4: Stage Palas de Rei - Arzúa (29 km)
  • 1 stop
  • Meals: breakfast
  • Accommodation: Accommodation in a room with private bathroom in one of our Hotels and rural houses.
Arzua
  • 6h
It is the longest stage of the French Way within the Galician community, 29 kilometres separate you from your destination, so we recommend taking the stage calmly and enjoying the surroundings, since it is also one of the sections with the greatest scenic beauty of the itinerary. Already in the province of A Coruña, dirt roads, lush forests and medieval bridges will guide your way to Santiago de Compostela. For all pilgrims it is mandatory to make a stop in Melide, capital of the Galician octopus; In any of its many supermarkets you can taste this delicacy of Galician gastronomy. After recovering your strength, the last kilometres will not require much effort and once you have reached Arzúa you will have the rest of the day to rest body and mind. Once you arrive in Arzúa, you should not miss trying the typical cheese to which they give their name: Denomination of Origin Arzúa-Ulloa; accompanied by other typical products of the area.
Day 5: Stage Arzúa - Pedrouzo (19 km)
  • 1 stop
  • Meals: breakfast
  • Accommodation: Accommodation in a room with private bathroom in one of our Hotels and rural houses.
O Pedrouzo
  • 6h
Today you are in luck, your feet will hardly suffer since you will find yourself with a short and less complex stage than the previous ones. You will walk through flat and comfortable terrain, finding an abundance of bars, shops and places to rest. Santiago is getting closer and closer and the pilgrim ritual of this stage is to go to bed early to get up early and take advantage of the day in Santiago de Compostela.
Day 6: Pedrouzo stage - Santiago de Compostela (19 km)
  • 1 stop
  • Meals: breakfast
  • Accommodation: Accommodation in a room with private bathroom in one of our Hotels and rural houses.
Santiago de Compostela
  • 5h
It is a relatively short stage and without difficulty, we recommend getting up early to arrive early for the pilgrim's mass and take advantage of the day in Santiago. When you arrive at Monte do Gozo, you will discover the reason for the name of this place: the tingling, that pleasant sensation that will invade you when you see the towers of the cathedral from a distance, getting closer and closer. As you descend towards the city, the blisters and fatigue will disappear until they disappear completely in the most magical moment of the entire Camino: the entrance to the Plaza del Obradoiro. You have arrived in Santiago, the city where the rain works magic on wet stones. After having stamped your credentials at each stage and collected your Compostelas, it will be time to enjoy the city. Enjoy strolling through the old town with a fresh beer accompanied by a delicious tapa, dancing and singing in a foliada, or trying one of its liquors.
Day 7: The end of the trip
  • 1 stop
  • Meals: breakfast
  • Accommodation: Not included
Santiago de Compostela
  • 4h
This is a day of farewells for many, the end of a path, and why not, the beginning of many. On the last day you will wake up with one more path in your lives, but not a path of kilometres, but of experiences, emotions and new friendships; a journey that will be projected in your lives and will help you to continue walking freely towards your own goals. You have completed the French Way that you started from the town of Sarria a week ago. Congratulations pilgrims! You have done it!
