Borgundhallen (Pass by)
The medieval market town of Borgund was, in the national context, the first ‘town’ in Sunnmøre in the middle of the 1100s. Archaeological finds have shown that humans have lived within the area of the present town Ålesund for about 9000 years. ‘Market Town Borgund’ flourished and the Giske clan on Giske, that was close to the throne, kept an eye on the place. In the 1100s Borgund was also the largest religious centre between Bergen and Nidaros/ Trondheim. The Borgund market town from the Viking era has provided countless finds during excavations and today the site is a part of the exhibitions making up the Sunnmøre Museum.

Ellingsoy Church (Pass by)
Ellingsøy is the second largest island in the Ålesund municipality. Before 1987, it used to be accessible from Ålesund only by boat or by road via Skodje bridges. When the subsea tunnel was built and opend by King Harold V in 1987, the connection between the island and the city centre become convenient. You will admire those charming villages, stretching along Ellingsøyfjord coastline.
