What you can expect

On your Algarve holiday, don't miss the Best of the West tour, where history, culture, panoramic views, and shopping await!

We begin in Silves, one of the region’s most scenic cities and the ancient Moorish capital of al-Gharb (XELB). The hilltop is dominated by its splendid castle, the grandest monument to Islamic rule in the region.

Next, we head to Lagos, a lively town with rich historical significance. Prince Henry the Navigator launched the Age of Discovery from here in the 15th century. Explore key landmarks such as the statue of Prince Henry, the slave market, the golden Church of St. Anthony, and the statue of King Sebastian, whose actions shaped Portugal's destiny. Enjoy free time for lunch (not included) and shopping.

Then, visit the bizarre rock formations at Ponta da Piedade (a 10-minute walk each way).

We end the day at Cape St. Vincent, the “End of the World,” where you can taste the last sausage before America.
