What you can expect
The tour begins at your chosen start point (hotel, cruise ship, private accommodation, airport) and determines how the day unfolds so every tour is slightly different. Essentially you would expect to see the following throughout the day:
PERTH CITY centre can be a busy place on a weekday but this is not the focus of the tour. We drive through the city hub for a general orientation and find beautifully restored heritage and more contemporary buildings side by side. We move east/west across the city focussing on places of interest such as nearby multicultural northbridge with its arts & museum centres, the community oasis of Perths City Farm and east to the magnificent Perth Stadium and iconic Matagarup Bridge.
KINGS PARK is one of the worlds largest botanical gardens and is magnificent all year round but especially beautiful in the spring between august - november. Views across the Swan river and city reaching back to the Perth Hills give great perspective on the overall layout of the city.
THE SWAN RIVER is the beautiful naturescape which the City of Perth and the historic Port of Fremantle both share. This tour takes us back and forth between specially chosen river locations and sights only a true local can deliver. Uniquely Western Australian humour, stories and culture accompany these drives and stops.
COTTESLOE BEACH (Cott) is unquestionably Perths premier seaside beach destination. Its soft white sands and deep blue waters are a favourite with locals and visitors and the nearby cafes, restaurants and bars all add to its appeal.
THE RICH & FAMOUS western suburbs between the beach & the Swan river give a window into where the affluent of the city gather and we explore some of the prettiest sections the Swan river has to offer in this area. If you like architectural design in all its indulgent glory this part is or you.
FREMANTLE PORT & CITY offers the oldest historical parts of the tour. Often compared to New Orleans for its ornate decorative wrought iron and deep balconies along little streets, the FREO vibe is chilled and cool. Quirky and arty displays are everywhere and we drive through the backstreets for a look at the original harbour workers cottages now refurbished and modernised but still dripping with old world charm.
ADDITIONAL OPTIONS which may be included in this tour are available subject to time limitations and your interests. These could potentially include:
(OPTIONAL) HISTORIC GUILDFORD & THE SWAN VALLEY. East of Perth approximately 25 minutes from Perth City is where locals enjoy the good stuff. Wine, Spirits, Beers, Ciders and great food. This addition may be included if you are interested in these things but less time would be dedicated to the main core listed above.
