Traverse the lush green forests and rolling hills of 2 gorgeous countries, crossing through northern Switzerland into southern Germany's Black Forest - the inspiration for many Brothers Grimm fairy tales. Unwind the cuckoo clock's history, eat delicious regional cake, and wonder at beautiful lakes and falls.
Climb aboard your waiting coach in Zurich and start your excursion. Pass the cool waters of Lake Schluchsee, the largest lake in the Black Forest, to reach Lake Titisee - a favourite destination of nature lovers in the heart of the forest. Learn the history of centuries of cuckoo-clock making, and then stroll to a nearby café if you’d like to try a piece of the region's celebrated cake, consisting of sweet layers of chocolate and whipped cream flavoured with cherry brandy. Work it all off with a walk around the lake surrounded by stunning evergreen woodlands, or opt for a boat cruise if you’re interested.
Follow up with a lovely drive through spruce woods past the town of Lenzkirch, home to the first clock factory in the forest. On the way, stop to admire Europe's largest and most spectacular waterfall, Rhine Falls, its waters plunging 75 feet (23 m) to the river below and spanning a width of 450 feet (150 m). Enjoy an optional cruise, and then hop back on the coach for your return trip to Zurich.
