What you can expect

Enjoy the amazing views of the mountains and keep an eye out for wildlife such as Moose and Caribou which are often seen crossing the road on the way to Castner Glacier. Once you arrive at the starting point of the trail your driver will supply you with ice cleats and snow shoes if needed and will give you simple instructions how to get to Castner Glacier Ice Cave. The hike is for beginners and the terrain is mostly flat.
Enjoy the epic views of the Delta Range, an eastern section of the Alaska Range.
The 2.6-mile return hike to the Castner Glacier ice cave is straightforward and almost entirely flat. Sometimes deep snow might be present in that case the use of snowshoes will be necessary.
These classic Interior glacier ice caves are fascinating and beautiful. They change from season to season.

We will pick you up from your Hotel or AirBnB at 8:30 am and we will head out to Castner Glacier Ice cave. We will have a 2.5 hour journey on the Richardson Highway trough the beautiful Alaska Range. Enjoy the amazing views of the mountains and keep your eyes open for wildlife such as Moose and Caribou which are often seen crossing the road or next to it.

Upon arrival at the beginning of the trail to Castner Glacier Ice Cave your driver will provide snowshoes if needed and will share a few tips regarding the trail and general safety. The hike is about 2.6 miles return.
