What you can expect

Full Mediterranean cuisine experience to spend a pleasant Saturday as we locals do. Join a local chef to give you a market tour, participate in a showcooking and enjoy an unique & exclusive lunch.

Discover a market full of locals, lively and super authentic and enjoy Mediterranean cuisine in a space that has a Puig i Cadafalch Architecture award.

🥬🛍 Market tour:

We will start by meeting at Plaça de les Tereses (Mataró) and get to the Plaça de Cuba market, just 2 minuts away from our meeting point.

We will buy vegetables at the outdoor stalls, full of Saturdays hustle and bustle, with a variety of vegetables and fruits. Depending on the season, we will choose one product or another.

We'll enter the Plaça de Cuba Market, full of fish stalls from the coast, butchers and charcuteries, walk around discovering stallholders and producers and buy whatever we need to prepare our banquet.

Of course, we'll stop by the cod stall, my favourite one, and get some shredded cod to make it in summer or winter salads which is always a hit, and some good olives for the starter.

We'll stock up to set a splendid table, with good sourdough bread with tomato, good fuet, good Iberian ham and when we have everything we will go to an amazing professional kitchen/space to prepare a good feast.

🥃🥘 The Vermut & Paella Experience:

I will prepare “el vermut” (something to drink meanwhile lunch is getting ready).

While I make the sofrito for the rice and the broth, you are invited to participate if you want. It is always more enjoyable to eat what one cooks while drinking an artisan vermouth.

🍴The menu consists of:

Starters (may vary depending on the season) watered down with artisan vermouth or refreshment:

  • Salt potatoes with white foraged radish sauce.
  • White bean truffled with smoked sardine
  • Cod esqueixada (tomatoes, cod, and black olives)
  • Escalivada (Roasted red peppers and aubergines)
  • Marinated olives
  • Sourdough bread with tomato and extra virgin olive oil, Iberian ham, Sumaia and a couple of Catalan shepherd cheeses

Main course paired with DO Alta Alella wine (1 bottle per 3 people)

  • Rice (to choose the same for the whole table)
    · Seafood rice
    · “Arròs de Muntanya” (pork ribs, chicken & mushrooms)
    · Seasonal vegetable rice
    · Squab and artichoke rice (autumn-winter season)

A good salad dish in the centre to share and bread to dip.

The sweet part

  • Puff pastry and cream cake from Uñó pastry shop or
  • Mató with homemade syrup. Depending on the season of dahlias, green pines, fig leaves. And fresh seasonal fruit.

Petit four and speciality coffee

Drink included:

  • 1 bottle of wine every 3 people
  • Artisan vermouth
  • Unlimited water

The experience lasts 7 hours, including market tour, showcooking experience and the exclusive lunch. It is a full experience to not only discover the Catalan cuisine but to have a please local Saturday as we locals do.
