Cisternino is well worth a visit for its classic example of spontaneous architecture. The old city of Cisternino is both amazing and unforgettable through its wonderful atmosphere, great views of the Itria Valley, cute old buildings and friendly people.
During the tour, you’ll visit the Church of San Nicola, known as the Mother Church, which was built in the 12th century over the previous 8th century Basilian church, whose foundations remain. Then, visit the Norman-Svevian Tower built in the 11th century by the Normans at 17 metres tall. It was largely rebuilt in the late 14th century and was remodeled several times in subsequent periods. Stop at the beautiful view overlooking the entire Itria Valley, a wonderful skyline of the valley with trulli and olive trees.
In the old town, visit the most important noble historic buildings walking in the narrow alleys and on the white/ black chianche, a typical limestone floor. This village has many good restaurants for evening dining, a choice of good cafes for snacks during the day and good local shops selling all the authentic local produce you could want. An area of great beauty, too perfect to be real but real with incredible trulli.
