Overview

Peru: Rainbow Mountain (Vinicunca)
Rainbow Mountain, locally known as Vinicunca, is an impressive geological formation located in the Cusco region of Peru. Its colourful landscape is due to the mix of minerals in the layers of earth, which, when eroded by wind and rain, reveal vibrant shades of red, yellow, blue, and green. The mountain has become a popular destination for tourists seeking to enjoy the natural beauty of the area and the trekking experience at high altitudes.

• Height: 5,200 m.a.s.l.
• Access: The mountain can be accessed via a trek starting from the town of Cusipata or from the community of Pitumarca, offering spectacular views of the Andean landscape.
• Best time to visit: From April to October, when the weather is drier.
Trekking Ausangate
The Ausangate Trekking is one of the most spectacular trekking routes in the Cusco region. This circuit surrounds the majestic Nevado Ausangate, which is considered an apu (sacred mountain) in Andean cosmology.
