What you can expect

This is an experience based on art, history and the very magical atmosphere of tradition!
During this brief introduction to the millenary art of glass you will have the opportunity to witness something truly unique and unforgettable.
Many centuries have passed since the ancients began by melting and mixing sand and related chemicals the enchanting magic of glass art and Egyptians and ancient Phoenicians still vie for the honour of discovery.
Today, as then, the two main processing techniques, blowing and sculpture, are fundamental processes of glass production where artisans, akin to magicians, mould glowing orbs of liquid glass into intricate shapes that trascend the realm of mere craftsmanship into artistic masterpieces!
Becoming a glassmaker is very difficult because it takes twenty-five or even thirty years of apprenticeship to learn how to shape glass before its solidification which takes place in ninety precise seconds, the theoretical bases of history, chemistry and design of glass are not enough, but you really need a real natural talent that is often handed down only from father/mother to son and daughter.
The guide's expert commentary will explain every single moment to you introducing you in great detail one of the most unique, ancient and iconic crafts of the island of Venice.
The master glassmaker will show you an example of glass blowing creating unique vase or glass!..and what about the second unforgettable example of glass sculpture where something born in front of your eyes!? I assure you that you will feel like children again!
From your “Vips area” near by the glass masters working, You will discover the origin of the materials, the minerals used to obtain the colours up to the times and temperature of firing the glass in a real full immersion inside the Murano tradition and life-style where you will undestand what mean doing this hand making job and be part of an history and tradition really unbeatable!
At the end of the demonstration if you want the tour of Glass Industry keep going with the visit of the showroom/museum where the most beautiful and precious glass artefacts, divided by style and family origin are jealously exposed waiting to be discovered to you! After that if you wish you can find very nice souvenirs in the shopping store located in the ground floor :)
Try this short “homepage” of the making glass, a perfect experience for families, adults and children that you never forget and that will certainly be one of the best memories you will take home from Venice!
