Ribeira Brava Beach

This village, whose name means Wild River, is located in the mouth of the river of the same name, between mountains full of banana trees and other crops. To know the reason of the name "Ribeira Brava" it is recommendable to visit the village at the end of autumn or in winter, when the river flows at full. During the rest of the year, its quiet appearance hides its true nature.

Porto Moniz Natural Swimming Pools

Porto Moniz is an amazingly cosmopolitan village for being located in the northern end of Madeira. You will find some amazing natural pools which have been enlarged to have an area of warm baths of marine water. The city of Porto Moniz also has interesting places such as the Centro de Ciência Viva Centre and the Aquarium of Madeira Aquarium. After you leave behind the city, the road goes up, zigzagging along the great slope of the hill which dominates the village. Here you will find two amazing overlooks that offer some impressive views.
