Itinerary
We will pick you up at your hotel in Puno at 4:00 a.m. We assure you that the early start will be worth it! We will head towards the border between Peru and Bolivia, located in the town of Desaguadero. Here we will enter Bolivia in the direction of the capital.
After a four-hour road trip, we will arrive in La Paz and take a guided tour of the colonial quarter, 16 de Julio Avenue and Mariscal Santa Cruz Avenue. Of course, we will enter the historic district to visit the 16th century church of San Francisco, the elegant neoclassical cathedral of Nuestra Señora de la Paz and the Murillo square.
We will then take a break and leave you free time for lunch on your own, and continue the tour admiring the convent of Santo Domingo and the Witches' Market, a place full of mystical and esoteric objects that you will love to browse.
After the visit of La Paz, we will take the bus again to the archaeological site of Tiwanaku, centre of one of the most important pre-Columbian cultures of Bolivia. We will make a tour of its constructions revealing all its secrets: the temple of Kalasasaya, the pyramid of Akapana and the Gate of the Sun.
We will also have the opportunity to admire the queros or ceremonial vessels, as well as its walls decorated with figures of human faces called huaco-portraits. During the tour of Tiwanaku we will learn many curiosities about the Tiwanaku empire, which extended through the central Andes to Lake Titicaca.
At the end of the tour, you will have an overview of the cultural and patrimonial richness of Bolivia. With this feeling, we will cross the border back to Peru and be at Puno between 14:00 and 15:00.
