We will travel to Cafayate city, the land of wines, located in the Calchaquí Valley, 180 km away from the capital of Salta, through one of the most impressive and renowned routes in the North of Argentina.
We will depart from Salta city, touring the centre and south of the Lerma Valley, to then enter the Las Conchas gorge's Natural Reserve. A low-altitude road takes us through a narrow valley surrounded by colourful hills, where the colours orange and red are the highlights. Here we will find geoforms carved by nature such as La Garganta del Diablo (The Devil's throat), El Amphitheatre (The Anfitheatre), The Windows, The Castles, La Yesera, The Toad, The Friar, The Obelisk, etc.
In Cafayate you will have the chance to visit a winery, with tasting of the best wines in the area. After lunch, we return to Salta by the same route.
We will be visiting a destination renowned as Natural and Cultural Heritage of Humanity (Unesco) crossing the homonymous “Humahuaca” Gorge, discovering incredible landscapes and sights, towns and cultures. We'll visit unique towns, such as Purmamarca, famous for the 7-colors Hill, Maimará with its colourful slopes called The Painter's Palletes. Tilcara stands out for its Pucará (a fortress in high mountains) which's ruins have been partially destroyed.
The tour also visits Uquia's chapel, built in the 17th century, worked in laminated gold. The destination: Humahuaca City is the Gorge's largest town, with cobbled streets and iron lampposts on the corners. It is also the highest point of the route, at 2,940 metres above sea level. The main attractions in the town are: The Independence Monument, Cathedral Church and The Municipal Building.
