What you can expect

Experience the Grand Canyon on an exciting day of adventure. Drive to the Grand Canyon through Oak Creek Canyon, and then continue around to several gorgeous viewpoints, each offering a unique perspective on one of the most beautiful places in the world.

Begin with a scenic drive up Oak Creek Canyon on Highway 89a, a National Scenic Byway. Wind through the canyon from Sedona to the tall pine forests near Flagstaff. Admire the San Francisco Peaks, Arizona's tallest mountains, peaking with a dormant volcano that erupted approximately 400,000 years ago. Enter the park on the western side of the South Rim, getting your first view of the canyon at Yavapai Point, the widest spot across the canyon in the park. See the Bright Angel fault line, parts of the Colorado River, and the Bright Angel hiking trail from this overlook.

Enjoy your second overlook at the Village, where you can check out the historic El Tovar Hotel and the Hopi House, a Pueblo Replica or take a walk along the canyon rim, visit the Kolb Studio, and watch for the giant California condors that reside in the area. Time will be included for lunch on your own at the Grand Canyon Village (lunch not included). After lunch, continue eastward along the South rim, stopping at several incredible vistas to take in the extraordinary vastness.

Your adventure continues at Desert View, offering one of the most dramatic views of the canyon. Enjoy the view from both inside and outside the Watchtower. On the return trip, travel along the Little Colorado River Gorge, stopping at the Cameron Trading Post before returning to your hotel.
