The Colosseum, originally known as the Flavian Amphitheatre (in Latin Amphitheatrum Flavium) or simply Amphitheatrum (in Italian: Anfiteatro), is the largest Roman amphitheatre in the world (capable of holding an estimated number of spectators between 50,000 and 87,000), located in the centre of the city of Rome. It is the most important Roman amphitheatre, as well as the most impressive monument of ancient Rome that has come down to us.[2] Inserted in 1980 in the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites - together with the entire historic centre of Rome, the extraterritorial areas of the Holy See in Italy and the Basilica of Saint Paul Outside the Walls - in 2007, the only European monument, it was also included among the New Seven Wonders of the World following a competition organised by New Open World Corporation (NOWC). Piazza Venezia is a famous square in Rome. It is located at the foot of the Campidoglio, where five of the most important streets of the capital meet: via dei Fori Imperiali, via del Corso, the axis via C. Battisti-via IV november-via Nazionale, the axis via del Plebiscito- Corso Vittorio and Via del Teatro di Marcello. Travellers will learn about the history of the city through its symbolic places.

Piazza Navona is one of the most famous monumental squares in Rome, embellished in monumental style by the Pamphili family at the behest of Pope Innocent X (Giovanni Battista Pamphili) with the typical shape of an ancient stadium. The Trevi Fountain is the largest of the famous fountains in Rome. Built on the facade of Palazzo Poli by Nicola Salvi, the competition announced by Pope Clement XII in 1731 was initially won by the French sculptor Lambert-Sigisbert Adam but subsequently the task passed to Salvi: it is said that the change was due to the fact that the the pontiff did not want to entrust the work to a foreigner, but another version explains that Adam had to return to France. Until the fifteenth century the square did not exist as such, and in its place there was a flowery meadow with some cultivated vegetable gardens, hence the name. According to an unreliable tradition, the square should instead take its name from Flora (a woman loved by Pompey, who had built his theatre nearby).
