This tour can be customised to suit your personal needs and it's a tour to give you plenty of time for hassle free sightseeing .There's a lot to discover in Hallstatt: Numerous listed buildings convey a very special charm. The most outstanding buildings incl. the Catholic parish church with the late Gothic winged altar and the world-famous ossuary. A visit to the Salzwelten Hallstatt is like a one and a half hour journey through 7,000 years of history, when you can feel the roughly hewn tunnel walls under your hands and when you slide down the 64-meter-long miner's slide and rattle back out into the daylight with the miner's train. But: 400 metres underground, the most modern multimedia technology brings the history of Bronze Age mining back to life.To discover the beauty of Lake Hallstatt, a boat trip on the lake is definitely worthwhile. The ice palaces in the Dachstein mountain are among the greatest natural wonders of the Alps. decide!

Activity itinerary

Hallstatt
  • 4h
After a 3 hour drive it says Welcome to beautiful HALLSTATT! We take a walk through the beautiful old town, admire centuries-old buildings and breathe in the clear mountain air. The village in the Inner Salzkammergut, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is a habitat that arose geologically from the primordial seas and has grown culturally from over 7.000 years of salt history. Picturesque houses embedded in the mountains, small dreamy and winding alleys and streets and the wonderfully clear lake at the foot of the city have created a true-to-original image of the idyllic small town in China. The historic town centre with its market square and many small, colourful shops and cafés is particularly beautiful. Known for its historical past, you can learn a lot about the World Cultural Heritage Hallstatt, for example optional in the Hallstatt History Museum, which is definitely worth a visit in addition to the excavations and the old ossuary. A boat trip on the lake is also possible.
Salzwelten Hallstatt
  • 3h
  • Admission ticket not included
Of course, the oldest salt mine in the world, the Salzwelten in Hallstatt, should not be missing. Salt has been mined on the Salzberg for 7000 years at around 900 metres above sea level. The place is based on salt mining. During your tour you will experience how salt has been mined here for thousands of years and learn interesting facts about salt extraction then and now. The mine slides and the artificially lit, subterranean salt lake are exciting. You can climb the 350 metres in altitude comfortably with the cable car. Each participant of the tour gets a “mining outfit”. With our guide we hike into the tunnel and after a few minutes we reach the first highlight, like miners we can slide into the tunnel system! If you don't want to slide, you can use the stairs next to it. Next we reach one of the many “knowledge stations” with explanations and light shows. At the end of the tour, a miners' train brings us back to daylight, enriched by many experiences.
Hallstatt Skywalk "Welterbeblick"
  • 15m
The Skywalk Hallstatt towers imposingly over Lake Hallstatt. It is one of the most impressive viewing platforms that Austria has to offer. It is located directly at the Rudolfsturm, at the entrance to the Hallstatt high valley. The Skywalk in the Salzkammergut was inaugurated in 2013 and has been one of the most visited destinations in the region ever since. The 12 metre long viewing platform floats freely above Lake Hallstatt. From the top you can look down on the historic centre of Hallstatt - with the world-famous church. Nowhere else do you have this view of historic Hallstatt and the lake. The mountain drops 350 metres from the Skywalk viewing platform. You are 860 metres above sea level! You can reach the Skywalk with the Salzbergbahn and can therefore combine it with a visit to the salt mines at no extra cost.

More than 70 kilometres of these corridors have currently been explored, almost one kilometre of which can be hiked through on guided tours. It is one of the largest karst caves in Europe. In the midnight cathedral, a multi-visual image projection opens up insights into this fascinating world without the sun. You will encounter cave animals and small forms of unexpected beauty. With the experience of a caver richer you come back to daylight. You can reach the mammoth cave via a well-developed, 15-minute path from the gondola mountain station, where you can enjoy the fantastic view of the valley.
