Activity itinerary

Day 1: Pick-up and scenic drive into Fiji's rugged interior
  • 1 stop
  • Meals: snacks
  • Accommodation: Overnight at a homestay in Navai village and get to know your Fijian hosts. Sheets, blankets and pillows are provided.
Navai
  • 12h
Travel with our experienced guides in our 4x4 vehicles into Fiji's less-seen interior and your first village stay at the start of the track up Mt Tomaniivi, Fiji's highest mountain
Day 2: Take on the challenging trail to the top of Fiji's highest mountain, Mt Tomaniivi
  • 2 stops
  • Meals: breakfast, lunch, snacks
  • Accommodation: Overnight in Naga community hall. Mattresses, sheets, blankets and pillows are provided.
Mount Tomanivi
  • 6h
Breakfast early and start your climb up the steep and muddy trail before the heat kicks in. The summit boasts stunning views on clear days, and the surrounding area is a designated forest reserve. The cloud forest is amazingly diverse, with several orchid species and endemic Fijian birds to keep an eye out for. The return distance is around 10km, but we allow approx 6 hours for plenty of rest stops and a break at the top.
Nadrau
  • 14h
After returning to the homestay in Navai, relax and shower before heading further along the Nadrau plateau and to the tucked away Naga village. You'll get some great views along the way. Settle in to your new surroundings and take a short walk with a community guide if you still have the energy before meeting your hosts and being formally welcomed. Enjoy a talanoa (chat) over a bowl of kava and a fresh, locally sourced dinner prepared by the village.
Day 3: Take in the views, and cool off in gentle rivers, as you hike a historic trail to Nubutautau village
  • 1 stop
  • Meals: breakfast, lunch, snacks
  • Accommodation: Overnight in Nubutautau village community hall. Mattresses, sheets, blankets and pillows are provided.
Nabutautau
  • 7h
Hike with your trained community guides along an old trail that links now abandoned villages along the upper Sigatoka river, through grassland and forest. The 12km hike takes approximately 7 hours with stops to rest, swim and have lunch.
Day 4: Enjoy one of our favourite walks, a circular hike to a natural waterslide and through an old village site
  • 2 stops
  • Meals: breakfast, lunch
  • Accommodation: Not included
Nabutautau
  • 5h
Enjoy a guided 4-hour (5km) circular hike stopping off to discover your inner child on a natural waterslide tucked away in the forest, and find out more about Fiji's past as you walk through an old village site. Enjoy a final swim in the river or cool off in the shade before a final climb back up to Nubutautau village.
Sigatoka
  • 4h
After your morning hike, depart Nubutautau and head by 4x4 vehicle down to Sigatoka, enjoying sweeping views across the watersheds for the Ba and Sigatoka rivers, then on to Nadi or Suva and the end of your adventure.
