Overview

This tour takes us through the streets surrounding the State Capitol, where the Who's Who of Denver's society built their mansions and their stories were made. We shall walk Millionaire's Row, visit Molly Brown, and even the two “most haunted” homes in Denver and you shall hear all of the dark, delicious tales of those that lived here and those that still remain…

For years I worked at Fairmount Cemetery. I managed the flower shop which was then located in the building that used to be the old train station which brought the mourners there. These affluent Denverites left large amounts of money in endowments for perpetual care of their graves. I heard the stories and the history of all these people. I feel like I know them. Please join me as I walk the streets where they lived. Let me tell you all the history I have learned and all the juicy stories I have heard…

And in the “spirit” of the tour, we are always costumed!

Millionaire's Row, this is the most haunted street in Denver. These historic mansions act as a facade for restless spirits. In the late 1800’s the wealthy of Denver flocked to “Millionaires Row” on “Quality Hill,” where they outdid each other, constructing luxurious mansions. Architecture that incorporated a variety of classical styles was noted for its flamboyance became known as the “Denver Style.” Each owner whimsically added turrets, spires and porches and the finished home rarely bore any resemblance to the original design. We will look at these beautiful homes that still remain and you will hear the history and stories associated with them and the echoes of the spirits that are said to dwell here.
Capitol Hill Mansion Bed & Breakfast Inn

This beautiful, historic property is a photographer's dream. Illuminated lighting gives this place an ethereal feel. Located in the most haunted area in Colorado, this place has a storey to tell and I will tell them... This elegant Richardsonian Romanesque and Queen Anne residence was one of the last homes constructed before the Silver Crash of 1893.

Colburn Hotel & Apartments
  • 10m
If these walls could talk...this place was the epicentre of Denver's former bohemian period. This former hotel became the playground of the Hollywood elite, as well as eccentric poets, such as Jack Kerouac (famous writer of the book and film, entitled "On the Road"), Neil Cassidy, Allen Ginsberg, and James Burroughs. Stories of haunts are often talked about, by former and current employees of the notorious Denver bar, Charlie Brown's, which is located on property. Since 1928 this bar has virtually stayed the same. This is one of the favourite stops for the likes of Bill Murray and Tony Bennett. I shall tell you all the history and stories about this place and our tour ends here... may I suggest a cocktail in the haunted bar...
