We had to cancel the tour because their tour van had 2 flat tires. While I understand that these things happen, what was frustrating is that this wasn’t communicated to us right away. We were on a very limited timeline due to our Cruiseline’s schedule to leave port. And we had to start this tour on time otherwise our ship could leave us behind. We arrived 15 min early at the meeting spot and no one was there. I tried contacting the tour operator via the Viator chat, no response. Luckily I met an employee at the Ketchikan visitor center who knew the number for the tour guide. She also stated that “he’s a one man show and usually shows up late” which made it even worse. I text his cell phone and he texts back 10 minutes later saying they got a flat tire and will meet us ASAP. We are now 30 minutes after our scheduled tour time, and he didn’t sound reliable enough to even give us an ETA. So we were left no choice but to cancel. If we would have never got his cell phone number from the employee at the visitor center, we would have been waiting around with no clue what was going on. If he’s truly a “one man show”, then he cannot be relied on to host any future tours. Until this company finds some help with their staffing/vehicle tire issues, I would stay far away from this company. We ended up going on Sourdough Tours located inside the Ketchikan visitor center, which was a wonderful tour!! Our tour guide even spotted whales off the road and stopped the bus so we can see first hand a whale bubble feeding!

Our only complaint was that there was 10-12 of us and we were all crammed into a large van. Two people had issues, with one being disabled and one being claustrophobic. You can imagine the issues this caused climbing in and out with each and every stop we had on the tour (and there were many stops). But the operator was knowledgeable, it was beautiful and enjoyable, despite having to crawl in and out of the van.

The place they take you too to see the bears is very nice but the driver Shane was a rude as could be. We were told they don’t want you here. 😳 if you asked a question she was rude to answer. He needs another job that he likes. Made me feel like a child when l was asking a question has the rest of the people on the bus laughing at me for any thing l asked so l didn’t talk the rest of this tour. Shane was so rude l would not recommend this tour with that driver.

We were with Shane, who has a great sense of humour. Unfortunately, we didn’t see any bears which would have been our highlight, however, Shane was very patient.

Shane was very informative about the area and told us lots of interesting facts about living in the area. Plus he tried his best to help us find bears but unfortunately the tide was too high for the bears to come out for feeding. Saw lots of whales though

Shane was fantastic. We saw whales, seals, eagles and loads of bears. Would highly recommend. Shane is so knowledgable about the area and the wildlife and everything we saw and incredibly enthusiastic. We wish we’d have had the whole day.

The tour guide Shane, seemed ill prepared and gave very little local knowledge. The tour was due to leave at one o’clock and he arrived at one, which caused significant anxiety and concern, as we thought that we would be left stranded. The bus was too low, necessitating those of us seated in the rear to have to bend almost double to enter and exit our seats. The bus was dirty, smelled of marijuana and cigarettes and was claustrophobic.

Mini bus arrived at time of departure which meant we were anxious about missing the trip. Mini bus was far too small and cramped for the number of passengers, and there was an overpowering smell of marijuana inside. The overly cramped space meant that my husband suffered from claustrophobia and had to exit the bus and didn't feel he could continue. However, our guide Shane allowed him to sit in the front with him, otherwise we would have lost the cost of the trip The trip itself was very disappointing as tide was extremely high which meant no bears, the beach for fool's gold was inaccessible. We didn't visit the salmon ladder, so only able to experience a couple of whale sightings and an eagle sitting high in a tree.
