What you can expect

Start with a convenient pickup from your hotel, the train station, or the airport in Tashket. Relax on the comfortable drive to the border with Tajikistan. Go thorugh the customs procedures and cross at the Oybek checkpoint before continuing to the city of Khujand.

Meet your guide and begin your tour of Khujand. Uncover the history of this city that was conquered and rebuilt by Alexander the Great. See how it is now one of the largest commercial, cultural, and scientific centers of the central Asian region.

Visit one of the great architectural wonders of the city theKhudjant is Palace (own expense). See how this facinating building is a replica of the building in St. Petersburg's Petergof. Admire the beauty of the Khodjand Fortress and have the chance to visit its Archaeology Museum (own expense).

View the Mosque and Mausoleum of Sheikh Muslihiddin, an architectural complex with a cathedral mosque and a 19th-century minaret. Take in the 19th-century Orthodox Church of Mary Magdalene and get some shopping done at the Panjshanbe Bazaar.

I love the pace! Donyor (Uzbekistan Side) and Hussain (Tajikistan Side) did an amazing job in showing me around in the smoothest way possible. Hussain is very knowledgeable and I learned a lot from him. Donyor was very kind and helpful! Amazing trip!

Will give 5 stars for the guide and the driver but 1 star for the poor communication with the operator - find it hard to communicate with this tour operator comparing to the other Uzbek tour operator but will recommend everyone staying in Tashkent spending a day trip to Khujand - a city where all Uzbek Kryz and Tajis will gather to celebrate New Year together!

Dilshon (driver from Tashkent), and Huseyn and Shahrior (guide and driver in Khujand) were wonderful. Huseyn was exceptional in his knowledge of Khujand and tried his best to address all my queries. The drivers were also brilliant, trying to communicate with us in whatever English they knew. Alas, the trip was a victim of the country’s state of affairs. The border crossing was smooth but by no means less intense (the car did not take us through to the other side). I cannot wish this on travellers who are not used to this kind of situation like us. We could tell Khujand has had a wonderful run, but the places we were brought to were nothing spectacular and some in need of repair. We’ve seen better bazaars, museums and mosques across Central Asia, so the ones in Khujand fell flat. To have to pay SGD362 for the trip was ridiculous (I cannot see how this is justified). Only go if you need to clock in another country like we did.
