Kotor is situated in the most secluded part of Boka Kotorska (The Bay of Kotor). While it dates from the Illyrian period, Kotor developed into an important commercial and artistic centre in the Middle Ages. Many empires battled for control over the city throughout the centuries: from being an autonomous city of the Byzantine Empire, free city of medieval Serbia, then under Venetian or Hungarian states, gaining independence and then returned to Venetian control once again, just to be occupied by France and then Austria, until Kotor finally became part of Yugoslavia.
Kotor tour begins at the main gate of the Old Town, also known as the Sea Gate where you will meet our guide. The guide will have an identification mark. The duration of this tour is 1 hours and 30 minutes.
After the introductory words and presentation, a tour of the inner city squares and streets would follow (Weapons Square, Flour Square, St. Blessed Ozana of Kotorska, gate from River Skurda) Square from the Cathedral, the most narrow street etc.
From the Skurda River Gate, following the craft street, otherwise the longest street within the old town, you would reach the Gurdic River Gate. After that, a walk through the city's Citadel with a couple of photo breaks would follow.
