Augusta Winery, founded in 1988 is located in the scenic town of Augusta Missouri which is nestled on the bluffs overlooking the Missouri River Valley. In 1980, the Augusta appellation was recognised as the first US Wine District, or Viticultural Area #1, because of its unique soil, climate, historical significance, and quality of wines produced from grapes grown in vineyards that date to the 1800’s.

The Augusta region was nationally known for its wine during the 19th century, but Prohibition halted the state’s winemaking for decades. Then, in the late 1960s and early 1970s, a few pioneering souls began to refurbish the old vineyards and winery buildings. The secret to Montelle's success in producing outstanding wines is the unique vineyards. The Augusta area was designated as the first viticultural area in the United States because of unique soils, microclimates, and history.

Early in the 21st century Chandler Hill set a goal to create a Midwest winery like no other. Construction began in 2007 with the creation of a winery that idyllically is situated on a hilltop at the entrance to Missouri Wine Country. The essence of Chandler Hill is understated elegance. From the tasting room to the 5,000 square foot deck overlooking our vineyards, spring-fed lake, rolling hills and the inspiring Osage Valley teeming with wildlife, Chandler Hill is an enchanting year-round destination unlike any other.

In March 2005, Bob and Lou Ann Nolan purchased 84 acres of land in Augusta, Missouri and began to transform it into the winery you see today. Four varieties of Missouri grapes; Chambourcin, Traminette, Norton and Vignoles, were planted and now grace the hills of the estate. Since opening, Noboleis has expanded both the vineyards and the business. From growing to over 30 wines in their portfolio, to pursuing the wholesale market and expanding to canning wine for sangria, Noboleis is absolutely blooming and looks forward to the future.
