What you can expect

We will start in the Plaza Mayor, where we will admire the Consistorial Palace, headquarters of the City Council. The current one is a reconstruction of an old Renaissance building built in the 16th century. We will stop to see the clock of his main tower, and we will tell you the storey of Grandfather Mayorga. Stay tuned! We will go to the Fountain of the Cabildo, we will give you symbolic data such as the importance of being a strategic point during the reconquest. That King Alfonso VIII of Castile decided that the location of Plasencia was optimal to have Muslim enemies controlled. Among other data.

In this square we also find its cathedrals. Yes, if you knew that Plasencia has two cathedrals? We will admire the exterior of the New and old woman, learning each of its peculiarities.

From here, we will walk through the streets of the town and stop in front of the Monroy Palace, also called the two towers. This is one of the oldest stately buildings of Plasencia, built in the fourteenth century and which can boast of having been used as accommodation by illustrious characters such as María de Monroy la Brava or King Fernando the Catholic.

We will continue touring the walled city while we admire the Plaza de San Nicolás and the Palacio del Marquesado de Mirabel, built by Don Álvaro de Zúñiga, Duke of Plasencia. Then we will continue to explore the old town of Plasencia, declared of Cultural Interest. We will walk through its medieval streets discovering the stories of its most emblematic buildings. It was in one of them where it was proclaimed as a legitimate heiress of Castilla Juana La Beltraneja. We will reveal this and other curiosities during the tour!

And we will return to the square after knowing the most important city in northern Extremadura.
