The Punta Tombo Protected Area was created as such in 1979, has a total extension of 210 ha and can be visited from September to April. The coast is considered an intangible area and during the month of February we will find it populated with youngsters practising swimming especially in the small pools that the tide leaves when retiring. Leaving Puerto Madryn, to the south, on National Route No. 3, and after travelling about 190 km on pavement and gravel, we will arrive at Punta Tombo, the largest continental reserve of Magellanic Penguins (Spheniscus magallanicus). This incredible place is home to tens of thousands of Magellanic penguins, which every year since September arrive to nest and have their young. To observe the fauna it is important to respect the paths perfectly traced to travel.
