The park is also home to various wildlife, including deer, banana slugs, and a variety of bird species. The main feature of Muir Woods is its magnificent coast redwood trees (Sequoia sempervirens), some of which are over 1,000 years old and reach heights of up to 250 feet (76 metres). These ancient giants create a serene and enchanting atmosphere, with their towering canopies filtering the sunlight and creating a peaceful, cathedral-like setting.
