San Antonio Best of Riverwalk Food Walking Tour
Begin your tour by meeting your guide at The Torch of Friendship. Weighing 45 tonnes and standing 65 ft tall, this work of art was a gift from the Mexican Government in 2002, symbolising cooperation and shared culture between Mexico and San Antonio. From there, you’ll make your way to your first food stop to enjoy delicious Tortilla Soup.
Next you will pass by La Villita, San Antonio’s first neighbourhood. In 1809, La Villita, Ville de San Fernando, and other nearby neighbourhoods came together to form the town of San Antonio. During this time you will also pass by the Historic Village, Venue Villita, Presa Street Bridge, the Mexican Consulate and the Tower Life Building.
Next, you will have a beef, chicken, or pork quesadilla and a Mexican soft drink at the second restaurant of the tour. You will then pass through Marriage Island and Kallison Love Lock Bridge. Both locations are very romantic destinations for couples. Marriage Island is a popular marriage venue, while the Love Lock Bridge is a bridge covered in locks placed by couples as a sign of their love.
You will then pass by the San Fernando Cathedral - the oldest, continuously functioning religious community in Texas. From here you will get to try vegan, Baha, or shrimp tacos at the next food stop.
Lastly, you will finish your tour with dessert. You will receive sopapillas, which are fried pastries with a Spanish heritage - perfect to satisfy your sweet tooth.
