Discover the culture in three different spaces in Casa Museu - Cal Gerrer.
The Fundació Cabanas is a private, non-profit foundation created to preserve the “Cal Gerrer” building and publicize the ceramics of the Arpí family, the Marilyn Monroe Archive, and the work of the Cabanas-Alibau brothers.
Inside you can visit three permanent exhibitions and a room for temporary exhibitions:
· Arpí pottery factory
The museumization process of the building has been a project devised in order to preserve the memory of what was the most important ceramics factory in Vallés and surroundings, currently being the only ceramics house-factory in the entire Spanish state. Its rehabilitation has allowed the recovery of traditional elements and spaces of the old pottery, where a collection of ceramic works is exhibited.
· Cabanas-Alibau Brothers
The Cabanas-Alibau family, born in Sants (Barcelona) and established in Sant Cugat in 1922, has had one of the most relevant careers in the local artistic field. The different rooms that make up the exhibition are structured into three areas, offering an anthology of the works of the three brothers: Joan, Francesc and Miquel.
· Archive Marilyn Monroe
This exhibition is presented from the particular point of view of its author, Frederic Cabanas, an artist from Sant Cugat who has spent more than 35 years collecting objects and documents, mainly books on the American actress. This is the first museum dedicated to Marilyn Monroe in Europe, which offers the visitor to let himself be seduced both by Marilyn's artistic sensibility and by the warmth that emerges from the atmosphere of collecting.
Also, do not miss the amazing viewpoint, the small terrace crowned by the sculptural work of Frederic Cabanas that presides over the roof, and the balcony that offers us the most beautiful views of the Monastery of Sant Cugat and the Collserola mountain range.
