What you can expect

Located centrally in the city, you will visit the Markthalle, an Art Nouveau building. Consisting of a hall which is 60 metres long and 25 metres wide, this food paradise consists of 33 different stalls with numerous service providers and dealers.

Next, you will visit The Bean Quarter (also known as “Bohnenviertel”) which is a relic of the historic Stuttgart. This place features shops unlike those in the city centre. Those who are interested in antiques, jewellery and craft and like to survey secondhand bookshops, must definitely discover this place.

As we continue, you will see the ancient gathering place “Marktplatz” and town hall (Rathaus). Dating back to the year 1304, the marketplace is situated in front of the city hall. After the destruction from the Second World War, this square was rebuilt at the request of Lord Mayor.

You will walk across the Friedrich Schiller square which is named in honour of the great German poet, philosopher, historian, and dramatist “Friedrich Schiller”, this square is located centrally in the old city. Here, you will also see the Collegiate Church and the Fruchtkasten building (which houses the Ministry of Justice and the Old Chancellery.

Walk by the Old castle from the 10th Century which was once the residence of the Counts and later, the Dukes of Wurttemberg is now serving as the home of the Landesmuseum Wurttemberg. The church inside the castle is still an active place of worship. The wings of the New castle (Neues Schloss Stuttgart) house the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Economics, Labour and Housing.

Finally, you will see the three-branch theatre complex (opera. Playhouse and ballet) which is the largest three-division theatre in Europe.
