The visit to the Lighthouse of Cabo de Palos is a unique and unforgettable experience, being the only lighthouse in the Region of Murcia that is visited. Located on one of the three ends of the Region of Murcia, on a small peninsula, the lighthouse rises with a height of 51 metres (81 metres above sea level), being the second highest lighthouse in Spain, after the Hercules tower in A Coruña.
Our visit will begin with the welcome of our guide on the outer esplanade of the lighthouse and after a brief introduction to know its history since it began to work in 1865, we will proceed inwards. After overcoming the more than 300 steps, we will reach the upper terrace where we can enjoy a unique panoramic view of our Mediterranean Sea, the corporal of sticks and the manga manga. With these spectacular views and the town of Cabo de Palos at our feet, we will have time to take photographs, and by our guide, we will know the functioning of the lighthouse and its peculiarities, such as the operation of the focus, which issues a White light that has a nominal night reach of about 23 nautical miles (43km).
During our visit you will also discover other curiosities, such as the history of the sinking of the transatlantic “the Syrian” and other important pecios that are part of our underwater heritage or the importance of the Marine Reserve of Cabo de Palos and Islas A.Cigas, being a submarine natural space Protected and one of the most popular destinations of underwater from all over Europe.
