Plaza Independencia

After our meeting point at the Solis Theatre we will go to Plaza Independencia, today being the main square of Uruguay, we will see the monuments and the meaning of the palm trees, plus other secrets that the city has. We will start with a historical introduction to Montevideo and Uruguay in general.
Monument to General Jose Gervasio de Artigas

At this point we will observe the meaning of the monument in the square and visit the Artigas Mausoleum, located below the monument.
Palacio Salvo (Pass by)
At this point we will observe the architecture of the building and we will talk about the history and legends of the place observing it from outside. In addition, it was a point of reference for the most famous Tango in the world "La Cumparsita".
Estevez Palace (Pass by)
We will see one of the headquarters of the Executive Power that functioned that way until 1985.
Torre Ejecutiva (Pass by)
There we will see in passing the current headquarters of the Presidency, where the offices of the president are.
Puerta de la Ciudadela

Montevideo was a walled city, and we will see the remains of the Puerta de la Citadel, the entrance to the Colonial city.
Theatre Solis (Pass by)
We will see the first theatre in the city from outside, and the first in South America. Also details of ruins of the old wall.

We will walk through one of the most cosmopolitan pedestrian streets that the city of Montevideo has, where we will see the diversity of culture, we will also pass through the Callejon de la Diversidad within the same sector.
