Set back from a quiet lane close to the centre of Alness, it provides a warm and welcoming Highland retreat within a short level walk of all amenities. The door opens into the kitchen/dining room which is well equipped for visitors. This leads through to a snug living room with comfortable seating. There is a good-sized bathroom and the double bedroom adjoining is attractively presented with colour co-ordinated soft furnishings.
Alness is a very pretty Highland village, famed for its flower displays in season. It has an excellent range of facilities, including supermarkets, pubs, restaurants, cafes and takeaways, all within a short walk of the cottage. It is ideally located for exploring the whole of the Highlands, with the renowned North Coast 500 route passing close by. There are numerous places of interest within easy reach.
The pretty seaboard villages of Portmahomack, Balintore and Shandwick, with their unspoilt sandy beaches are just 15 minutes’ drive away. The nearby peninsula known as the Black Isle, due to its rich dark soil, is a few minutes’ drive away. Here there are pretty villages and lovely walks. It is famous for its resident pods of bottle-nosed dolphins which are regularly spotted along the coastline. Golfers are spoilt for choice, with an excellent course just 300 yards away and other well-known links courses at Royal Dornoch, Tain, Golspie and Brora. Fishing, hill and forest walking, kayaking, sailing, and wildlife watching are all local pastimes. It is also easily accessible to Inverness, the capital of the Highlands, just 20 minutes’ away. Loch Ness, Culloden Battlefield and Fort George are just a few of the many interesting places to visit. Beach 4 miles. Shop, pub and restaurant 300 yards.
