With activities that will get your heart pumping and areas to enjoy the picturesque coastline of Scarborough, Alpamare has attractions to suit all ages. Alpamare is a fun-filled waterpark that recreates typical alpine relaxation and recreation. Ride slides inspired by ski resorts, soothe the body in an iodine pool and look out over stunning views from a sun-soaked terrace.
Adventurous visitors to the park should make a beeline for the four waterslides. Speed down a 36-foot (11 meter) drop and reach speeds of up to 31 miles per hour (50 kilometers per hour) on the Black Run. The Cresta Run replicates the toboggan run of the same name situated in the Swiss winter sports resort of St. Moritz. Ride in tandem with a friend on the Olympic Run and brave the 46-foot (14 meter) drop of the Snow Storm.
Another fun thing to do is to float over and dive through the waves of the park’s huge indoor pool. Children will love running between the fountains and showers of the spray pool. For something different, plunge into the 95 F (35 C) outdoor pool with jets and whirlpools.
Slow things down a notch by strolling around a landscaped garden decorated with colorful plants and flowerbeds. Lay back on a sun lounger while gazing over the North Sea. The views are equally impressive from an infinity pool filled with warm and therapeutic iodine water.
Recharge with something from the café’s health-conscious menu, which includes pastas, salads and beverages that cater to most tastes.
You’ll find the park just a 20-minute walk from Scarborough’s town center. Metered parking is available for 300 vehicles. Scarborough Open Air Theatre and North Bay Railway are some nearby attractions worth visiting.
Alpamare is open year round and there’s an admission fee. Ticket prices are for a 4-hour visit to the park, after which additional fees are incurred. Purchase tickets in person upon arrival or via the park’s official website. Bear in mind that there’s a minimum height for the waterslides.
