Amazing House on an Amazing Property
We absolutely loved the house and all of the amazing outdoor space. It was great to have a fire in the outdoor fireplace and the kitchen was well stocked. The accommodations were great. The house is quite a drive from Ashland on winding roads - so keep that in mind for your trip planning

March Snow
The house was beautiful. Unfortunately it had snowed 2.5 feet and we really couldn’t enjoy the outside as much as we had planned. Took an hour for the tractor to clear out the driveway to the home. And we left a day early due to fear of getting snowed in. Its at altitude so plan accordingly. There were snowshoes available and that was fun.

Great birthday getaway!
My wife and I spent four nights celebrating my birthday with two other couples. Great house in a wonderful location. Each bedroom has its own bathroom and the downstairs living area is the best. The open floor plan allows everyone to be part of the action. The kitchen is quality and well-stocked. The outdoor areas are the best and we would have spent much more time there if the weather wasn't so cold. The summer would be great for this. Instead, we spent many hours talking by the fireplace. The house is very secluded and quiet with excellent views. One thing to keep in mind is that, although the house has an Ashland address, it is a 35 minute drive from Ashland proper. Not a problem for our group, but be aware if you plan to do a lot of up and back activities. Would definitely stay again.

An absolutely lovely (large) gem
One of our fave vacation places ever (and I find it my life calling to find the best ones). A beautiful, large, cabin retreat amidst the woods complete with deer, kids capturing frogs/lizards/etc. we loved the home and the area (went zip lining at crater lake, rented boat at Lake of the Woods, jet boated the rogue river, kayaked in the property looks, fishes, etc!). Our kids are 4-10 and all of us can’t wait to return to Red’s cabin! One of the best sets of days ever

Beautiful Home
Beautiful home and love the location. My only issue is that are no window coverings upstairs in the bedrooms or in the downstairs living areas. It makes you feel your in a fish bowl at night. Plus, without the window coverings in the kids rooms they wake up much earlier than I’d like while on vacation. Lol!

Best family vacation ever!
We loved staying at this property. The home was huge and beautiful. It was equipped with everything we could possibly need. The kitchen table seated 12 and it has a huge island for cooking, serving, etc. We loved playing in our own private lake right out the back door, getting on hiking trails, playing bocci ball, and using the beautiful firepit every night. We loved spotting deer walking by every day. We loved the back porch with the walls that could be opened or closed and the huge outdoor fireplace, which we used every night to keep us warm as we played dominoes. We will definitely be back and recommend this property to everyone. The best part was that there was no TV and very little cell service so we were all forced to play together and talk. With teenagers this could be a problem, but ours didn't seem to mind it at all!

Fantastic Getaway
This place was an amazing find! We had a group of about 9 high school friends all come to meet up and hang out for an extended weekend. The surrounding area is beautiful, the big open rooms great for board games and general hanging out, and the outdoor fireplace was super awesome. Also we really enjoyed not having wifi at the cabin! Sounds weird right? But it was a great way to enforce getting disconnected from the everyday routine. Definitely planning to stay here again!

Good, with a few suggestions
Stay was great. A few things to know - 1) there is a property manager to answer all questions but you don't get his context number until the day before so it's very confusing to get any answers from VRBO or evolve because neither of them know. 2) the bunk bed room had no heat so was freezing in the winter and also had no bedding. 3) the wood was not chopped enough to start a fire so we had to use an axe to chop our own wood. And one small recommendation to the host to add more advice about where to go locally to enjoy the surroundings. There was no internet to look anything up, so we had to rely on the welcome book which was very vague and sparse. All in all it was a gorgeous house and we would definitely stay there again.

Great cabin
The property is secluded and beautiful and the perfect place for a family getaway. It’s very clean with lots of extras. The only downfall is that the furniture is old and not very comfortable, and the oven doesn’t cook evenly. This was our second time visiting, and this time the firewood wasn’t brought in and we were informed the propane was very low so we had couldn’t use the central heat. Still, we had a great time.

Definitely, not cleaned well.
The place was great last year when we stayed there, but this year it looked like it had sat for some time, cobwebs all over the ceiling, the wood work had lots of dust on it, some of the shelves, looked as if it been a year sense dusted. The mantel was even worse. The Water heater kept shutting off after just minutes in the shower, it would drop quickly to cold, and freezing you out. That sucked!!! after a few mins with it turned off it would reset and you could continue. Not fun in Feb. when your trying to enjoy a nice hot shower. Over all it needs better care and a better house keeper defiantly.

Woodland creatures were abundant nearby trails for hiking and biking, although the Howard prairie lake was too low to enjoy water activities it was beautiful and the near by Lake of the Woods was just 20 minutes up the road for a day of swimming. The house was perfect for our family of 11, the open floor plan kept us all together and the Bocce Ball was a favorite activity for ALL!

Beautiful getaway
This property is just so pretty. It's the perfect place to get away and relax. All of the beds and furniture were high quality. Everything was clean. The bikes were in good working condition. I loved the personality and colors in the kitchen and home decor. There were a lot of personal touches about the history of the family that built the house. The house is walking distance from the lake. There's a bike path around the lake which is a little tricky with fallen trees etc..but at some point we made our way to the road and came back there. we also Rode all around the regular road that goes around the lake. The pond and waterfall made you feel you were near a stream. Such a cool spot! Pioneers came from Tennessee to this property in 1854! such a cool fact!
