My stay at the Waterfront Hotel in Bahir Dar was above excellent! The hotel itself is very new, located in a safe area of city center, a few minutes of walk from the local open market.
At the hotel, it has a nice restaurant with a separate spacious open eating terrace, free WiFi access throughout the hotel, and free airport shuttle. Fresh coffee and fresh fruit juices were available each morning along with a generous and delicious breakfast of my choice. The restaurant menu was a variety of a traditional Ethiopian dishes, along with other options including burgers, pastas and pizzas.
The owner, Meseret Kassie, speaks fluent English. Most importantly, he listens to customer’s concerns, is responsive and provides immediate solution. The first night, I had some problems with shower in my room. He had me changed to a different room immediately. (Most of the rooms have balcony. My first room didn’t have one, but the second room did.) The hotel staff are polite and helpful. After my Blue Nile waterfalls trekking, my boots were muddy and dirty. The next day morning, the staff member took my boots for shoe cleaning, polishing, and repair for only 20 Birr.
The hotel has a nice, clean, modern, and well equipped big kitchen with glass windows that you can view from the dining area.
Waterfront in Bahir Dar truly has the best value for the money in addition to the excellent food and service, nice and helpful staff, clean and comfortable room. I highly recommend it.
