Old-world rides are mixed with high-tech amusements at Belmont Park. Many of the attractions operate at a softer speed than their modern equivalents, meaning that the park is suitable for young and old alike. It's hugely popular, attracting millions of visitors per year. Get your unlimited ride pass from the office and take your pick.Cutting-edge when it was built in 1925 by John D. Spreckles, the park still retains lots of its classic style. The thrills of the Giant Dipper roller coaster and the fun of the Plunge swimming pool still survive from that long-gone era. These amusements were refurbished during the 1980s, making them the only surviving elements from the original park and they really add a lot to its setting and character. Newer merry-go-rounds also sit alongside bumper cars and lots of stalls. Some of the more recent developments in the park include Rush Laser Tag and Arcade, which offers groups an exciting laser shooting game – especially popular with teenagers and young adults.Pull on your swimming clothes and head for The Wave House for some fantastic surf simulation rides. This attraction features the FlowRider's 2.5 metre wave, as well as the FlowBarrel where you’ll always find surfers showcasing their skills. If you've a good head for heights, check out the exciting Sky Ropes obstacle course. When you're finished with all the fun, have a meal in the Wave House Bar and Grill, or grab a quick bite to eat at the Patio Grill.Belmont Park is at its buzzing best on summer evenings from mid-June to mid-August, staying open until midnight on Fridays and Saturdays. There is no entry free for the park, local parking is free of charge and food is not expensive – this all makes for a fun and affordable day by the sea.
