"Very traditional Japanese ryokan. Vast majority of guests are Japanese and so is authentic but also a bit weird… that’s to say, it doesn’t cater to foreigners. Can’t decide if the decor is stuck in the 1980s or if this is just Japanese taste. We had one of the fancy rooms with a private lounge and a private bath tub (could fit 2 small people) overlooking the mountain and lake. This was lovely. "overall experience was ok. It was a cool experience and only that. The room looked cool but it was dusty. The bathroom smelled like pee was soaked into the wooden floors. The a/c was a bit musty. There was no beef that was promised on the website. The Japanese dinner and breakfast consisted of fish and more fish so if you’re not a fan of fish, it would be hard for you to stomach.
