I stayed for six nights - an older, solo traveler. I was greeted warmly by the owners, and I found all the staff members I had contact with to be friendly, helpful, and informative. I also found the other guests to be cheerful and interesting, no doubt an outgrowth of Pensao Mirasol's atmosphere, when we interacted in the dining area. I'll stay there again the next time I'm in Funchal.

This hotel is nice and unique. The service staff is very nice however we had a poor experience with reception where one staff member in particular had a bad attitude with nearly every interaction. The hotel is clean and walkable to downtown but after staying on the southwestern side of the island at a different hotel for a similar price, I would seek out other options in the future.

Even if you have no interest in football it is worth the visit. Entrance fee 5 euros. I have never seen so many cups, trophies and medals all in one place and won by one person. The letters and pictures exhibited are very moving as they have been sent by children from all over the world
