Head to Cala Les Urques to experience a quiet beach setting with few people, superb views and transparent waters. This rocky cove showcases the true essence of unspoiled nature and is perfect for indulging in hours of tranquility. While away your time at Cala Les Urques by topping up your tan and taking a dip in the warm Mediterranean Sea. Hike to a viewpoint to benefit from panoramic views of the gorgeous Calpe coastline.
Access to the pebble beach is via the adjacent Puerto Blanco boat marina. It’s possible that you’ll have the beach to yourself, meaning that you can enjoy the views in peace. Across the Bahia de Calpe is the Peñón de Ifach rock and behind is the Morro de Toix hill. The still seawater is suitable for swimming, although you should be cautious of slippery rocks when entering.
Walk along the piers of Puerto Blanco and watch as boats come and go. Scuba diving excursions depart from here and Jet Skis are available to rent. There’s access to another small beach called Playa de Puerto Blanco.
Make the short walk south via the shoreline to a staircase that winds up into the framing hills. Continue on a trail that clings to the hillside and ends above Cala de Gasparet. Another route travels to the Mirador Monte Toix lookout at the summit of Morro de Toix, which is the meeting point between the Sierra de Bernia mountain range and the sea. The view extends for miles along the Costa Blanca coastline and, on clear days, you can see the island of Ibiza.
Cala Les Urques is located 1.2 miles (1.9 kilometers) south of Calpe’s town center. Get here by taxi or walk for about 30 minutes. Drivers can use the parking lot at the marina. This is an unguarded beach so be sure to help maintain its condition by taking any trash with you and leaving only your footprints.
