Treat yourself to a day out at the seaside at a popular beach that lies next to a vast coastal park filled with sights and attractions.

Delight in many hours of sun-kissed relaxation and sporting activities when you spend some time on Camello Beach. This is a small and attractive beach of soft golden sand next to the Playa de la Concha and the Magdalena Peninsula.

For a comfortable stay on the sand bring your own sun lounges and umbrellas with you because there are no rental facilities on the beach. As you relax look out to the Atlantic Ocean and the views of the rocky coastline. If the tide is low you should be able to see the rock formation that gives the beach its name. It is shaped like a camel in profile.

Stroll along the shoreline and go for a dip in the water. Enjoy a game of beach shovels. This is a popular Camello Beach pastime in which two or more people use wooden bats to try and keep a tennis ball up in the air for as long as possible. It involves cooperation and competition. After your exertions stop for a drink and an ice cream at the beach bar.

Camello Beach is right next door to the Magdalena Peninsula, an extensive park filled with plenty of indoor and outdoor attractions. It is well worth exploring if you don't want to spend an entire day on the sand. Sightsee the peninsula on the tourist train and stop for a guided tour of the Palacio de la Magdalena, a magnificent early 20th-century building that was once the summer home of the Spanish royal family. Other highlights of the peninsula include a marine park, a lighthouse and an open-air museum.

Arrive at Carmello Beach by public transportation or drive and use the free parking areas. The beach is below the promenade and accessed by stairs. There is also a ramp for wheelchair users.
