I was offered to switch to Riu Pennincilar Adulds only section, and it was amazing! service, beach and adult pool are stunning. Stuff is very attentive and they put little animals out of towels to top it off. Riu parties ware professionally done !! Buffet had nice selections of foods. Great place!

Best beach for swimming I've been on at a Cancun resort, but it starts losing sun at 11:30am (at least in December) due to the way the hotel is situated. Some pool locations got sun all day, but you had to hunt. A la carte food was some of the best I've had a resort, but also one instance of one of the worst meals I've had at a resort. Buffet offerings were plentiful and overall good. Skip room service, very limited offerings. Staff was wonderful, and it's nice to not have to sit through a sales pitch at check-in. Would definitely consider returning.

As we booked the hotel through Expedia, and not through Hotel Riu, the hotel did not provide transportation or transportation options. The pools at Hotel Riu close at 7 so when we arrived we went to their Mexican Restaurant for dinner. I admit I am a foodie and I knew going in that Hotel Riu’s weren’t going to have the best food. While the service was great, the food was not. We decided right there that we would only do breakfast at the hotel buffet which was decent. The Art Deco bar was a fun vibe. Overall, Las Americas was fine. It had pretty pools and fun party vibes at the pools. I wish the pools were open later or they had a hot tub, but I understand the liability aspect of closing the pools at 7. If you’re into partying, they offer a shuttle to their other hotels for dance club parties. The drinks were fine, there are liquor dispensers in the rooms. The rooms are a little dated but they were well serviced. Most annoying part was there was only one accessible power outlet to charge our phones in. There was a charging port in one of the lights by the bed, but if you turned the main lights off with the switch (the only way to turn them off) it also turned off the charging port. Worst part was when I pressed the air conditioner to turn it up and it electrocuted me. Like full on electrocuted for at least 10 seconds. I complained to the front desk and they had a technician look at it and they said the manager would do something for me but I never heard from them.

We had a problem with one of dining restaurants. The Black and White Steakhouse. On check in, we were told no need to make reservations at any of the restaurants. It was first come first serve. All other restaurants were very accommodating with the exception of the Steakhouse. We were waiting in line and wasn’t acknowledged for over 5 minutes. Finally someone came over and told us that they had a waiting list and come back the next day at 1830. Please note there was many empty tables. This was very disappointing since this was our last night. I give The Black and White Steakhouse a thumbs down on professionalism and service.

For the most part friendly and respectful staff.We had issues with check in and no food offerings available as we had a late Check in on the first night.Restaurants can offer more vegetarian options.Overall nice resort.
