In 1965, when my parents were looking for a NC mountain summer property on Lake Glenville, they basically had the pick of the litter of the entire lake. And therefore, they got the best home in terms of location/close proximity to Cashiers and the massive expanse of big water and sunset views. Located on a peninsula jutting out into the lake, Moore Mountain’Inn sits on 5 totally secluded, private acres, with a long range, big water panoramic lake view and 500 feet of pristine shoreline, totally unheard of in today’s Lake Glenville homes. This property has the feel of being in a gorgeous mountainside isolated compound.
The waterfront features an oversized dock ready for any watercraft, a brand new seawall with boulder path down to the beach, and a beachfront landing, all perfect for enjoying spectacular summer sunsets, watching the kids swim, floating on a raft, waterskiing, tubing, romping with the dog or just kicking back and enjoying a glass of wine. Take a stroll or swim over to tiny Dog Island (my name for it cuz my dogs love the island’s 180 degree beach) which is footsteps away from the dock. An antique (but floating!!) canoe is available for your enjoyment as well as 2 8-foot kayaks.
Moore Mountain’Inn consists of over 2500 square feet of living area with a loft. The 2 new massive decks contain almost as much. It is decorated in a very comfy, rustic, contemporary fashion featuring brand new windows, bathrooms, light & plumbing fixtures, appliances, cabinets, etc. and has a 55” flatscreen TV, Sony sound system with wireless blue tooth capabilities for your device’s playlists, DirecTV and a DVD player. Original features of the older house are there as well, like refinished old doors/knobs, antique furniture, artwork, a gigantic (and evacuated) hornets nest that grew in the eve of the house in the 70’s, my dad’s old wooden waterskis, etc. The soaring ceiling and abundance of lakeside windows gives the house a bright and airy feeling and a lake view from almost every room in the house. The main entry level encompasses the living room and dining room, kitchen, master bedroom and main bathroom. The loft suite features a queen bed, half bath and a separate sitting area with a large flatscreen TV and a very comfy queen size convertible sofa for when extra sleeping space is needed. There is also a cute Romeo & Juliette balcony off the loft to sit outside under the trees and read a book. And, of course, a spectacular lake view through the many heightened windows at loft level.
The large downstairs suite is divided into a king sized sleeping area and a comfy sitting area by a rustic aged ghostwood sliding barn door. Leave it open for a spacious feeling or close it for privacy since the full size sofa converts to a very comfortable bed. The bathroom is nice and roomy and sunlit with an antique clawfoot tub looking out an enlarged picture window at the mountainside so you can bathe with nature (or not…..draw the blinds, haaa!!). There is also a separate sizable laundry room with brand new washer/dryer on this level.
The main level and the downstairs suite have huge brand new decks overlooking the lake and mountainside, with 360 degree view of unequaled natural splendor!! The main deck is partially covered for either basking in the mountain sun or relaxing in the shade or enjoying a summer rain shower without getting wet. The lower deck is water tight meaning another large outdoor living area is there for your enjoyment, weather sunny or rainy, complete with a sitting area and a daybed.
I know you’ll enjoy the new Moore Mountain’Inn, a labor of love, restored as a loving tribute to my parents who gave my brother and me an amazing lifetime of memories at this house. It is fitting that the home displays items like my dad’s antique tool collection and my mom’s antique furniture and glassware, along with many other original features and décor of the past 50 years.
The house is fully stocked with everything you could possibly need…..dishes, glasses, cups, silverware, pots, pans, cooking utensils, coffee maker, towels, hand towels, wash clothes, sheets, linens, blow dryers, guest robes and the most comfortable beds with fluffy pillows, quality sheets and down comforters. Just bring your food, your clothes and your toiletries.
There is a brand new stone fire pit next to the house, overlooking the lake, for sing-a-longs and roasting s'mores.
Moore Mountain’Inn sleeps 6 comfortably….6 in the 3 bedrooms, and possibly 4 more in the 2 private sitting areas, however the pullouts in the sitting areas would really be more for 2 children or 1 adult. If by chance more room is needed for larger family vacations, I also own Mom’s Place, a 3 bedroom/1.5 bath cabin right above Moore Mountain’Inn, which I've just updated and redecorated and which has a world class view of the lake. Mom's Place is a good house to use for larger parties, combined with Moore Mountain Inn, since they're located within a stone's throw. Please see Mom's Place at Homeaway.com listing #162191. Also, new to our collection is a lake view 3/3 house, with walking lake access and a private community dock, and with boat docking privileges. Please see Caribou Cabin at Homeaway listing #9468547. And finally if you'd like to see what a resort amenity package feels like, see Sapphire Place, a 2/2.5 gorgeous little townhouse, in Sapphire. Homeaway listing # 7825530.
