Choeng Mun Beach includes a number of small bays and inlets located on northeast Koh Samui. The area is home to a few large and secluded resorts, as well as upmarket villas. Some resorts offer private beachfronts, while others operate on the main beach.
The town behind the beach is small, with the majority of visitors choosing to stay at their own resort for the duration of their stay. If you do want to get out and about there are some options. You can of course visit the main Choeng Mun Beach that is very popular with locals. For an adventure, wade through the shallow water to the small island of Koh Fan Noi at the southern tip of the beach. Kids will love exploring the little island and snorkeling off the beach. Beware that high tide will bring the water to waist-depth or higher.
Like many of Koh Samui’s beaches you’ll find a range of watersports and activities to do both on the sand and in the water at Choeng Mun. Rent a Jet Ski or kayak around Koh Fan Noi. You can also go scuba diving at the reef that rests a bit further off the beach.
One of the attractions to Choeng Mun is the lack of hostess bars in the town. As a result, the town is very family friendly. You’ll also find many restaurants that cater to Western tastes, which makes it much easier to find food for the kids.
Choeng Mun is perfectly positioned to offer easy access to both the eastern and northern coasts of Koh Samui. You can easily head west and check out the Big Buddha, or south to the relaxing beaches at Chaweng Noi and Lamai.
