Chaweng Noi is just south of Chaweng, one of the busiest areas in Koh Samui. This tranquil stretch of sand is, however, nothing like the larger beach to the north. Once you round the headland you’ll find calm and crystal clear water bordered by exquisite, untouched sand. Upmarket villas line the beach just behind the towering coconut palms.
This beach is the place to be if all you want to do is relax. There are less crowds and there is ample shade to escape the sun. Snorkel around the northern headland or wander down the beach and check out the other resorts if you feel like being a tiny bit more active.
Get out of the sun and drive the ring road south toward Lamai. The view from the headland back toward Chaweng Noi provides some of the best photo opportunities of the bay.
Head back to your resort or visit another for a snack or something more filling. The food vendors that tend to wander the beaches generally don’t venture down to Chaweng Noi, as the only access to the beach is through the hotels. Knowing that, you can lie in absolute peace and simply enjoy the sun.
If you’re keen to go out at night, just make your way north to Chaweng, where you’ll find the best nightlife on the island. Nightclubs, bars and restaurants are scattered throughout Chaweng so you should be able to find something to suit your tastes and mood. The Green Mango strip is at the heart of the district and is always packed with young revelers.
Chaweng Noi is marketed more toward older travelers and families, compared to Chaweng which is more geared toward younger party-goers. As a result, prices are a bit steeper but well worth the peace and quiet.
