"The hotel seems to be a bit old (was told over 20 years) but the staff were very friendly and helpful when we complained about the odor in the rooms. The hotel manager Brenda was very nice. She apologized and showed us other rooms that are clean and fresh. We switched to the new rooms and was happy about it. The staff in the restaurant, front desk , concierge were also very friendly and helpful. We are very satisfied and pleased during the stay. "

"How beautiful Banyan Tree is! It sits on the side of the mountain Jinyun. Our room is very charming and calm with a hot-spring at the balcony! There is a amazing garden on the first floor. 悦榕庄静坐在重庆北培缙云山侧，美丽的环境、舒适的房间。每间房都自带温泉池。底层有个非常漂亮的花园，慢慢欣赏可能得耗两、三小时。我是重庆长大的， 长期定居国外，有机会享受悦榕庄，是我这次回国过年的一大惊喜。准备9月间带朋友再住悦榕庄，顺便将金刀峡逛了。 "

"The room was smoke free and pretty clean. I did find it a bit warm and difficult to turn the thermostat down. The staff were warm, attentive and friendly and would go out of their way just to come to my door and ask if I needed things. Here’s the problem: the hotel advertises itself as having English language service, and in truth this service was very limited.
