Despite dating back to the 18th century, Dresden’s iconic church remained a pile of rubble for half a century following the 1945 bombing of Dresden. Today, following a long reconstructive period, the Church of Our Lady has been returned to its original state, and is considered one of the most important examples of Protestant sacred architecture in the region. Climb its arched dome or take in a concert within its cavernous nave.

Climb the steep staircase to reach the church’s dome. At 220 feet (67 meters) high, the viewing platform offers panoramic views of central Dresden. Be aware that the climb is strenuous and should only be attempted by those confident in their physical ability.
Listen to music at one of the church’s regular concert events. The Church of our Lady is home to two vocal ensembles and also hosts the weekly Spiritual Sunday sessions. A calendar of concert events, including those which include the church’s enormous organ, can be found on the official website.
The Church of our Lady is open daily and a fee applies to make the ascent to the dome. Reach the church by tram or bus, or find street parking in the area around Neumarkt Square.
