It is also at the right end of town to access the beautiful grounds of Westport House, which gives you a lovely walk/meander down to the Quay instead of using the road.Would just say that the house is at the top of a steep hill and our age range was 55-73, so if you are not fit it could be an issue for you.We would certainly stay here again."

"Beautiful, spacious property. Practical Details for Americans: they have a water kettle not a coffee pot, so purchase instant or bag coffee before you come, not beans or ground. They have a washer and dryer. You need to bring pods and be aware, it's a condenser dryer that takes about 2 hours to dry a verysmall load (5-6 items). Be sure to empty the dryer water tank. It's muddy on the property, so bring slippers or alternate shoes plus something to put your shoes in to protect your suitcase....

It was the perfect escape—quiet, removed from the hubbub, but still close to restaurants and other conveniences. "We have just checked out of this beautiful hotel and couldn't have asked for a more perfect stay! The staff are so friendly and can't do enough for you. The hotel itself is spotlessly clean and has everything you need, the conjoined pub 'The Crows Nest' next door serves a fabulous menu and all the locals are very chatty and always so friendly. We were sad to check out as we had such a wonderful two days but would love to return in the future!"

"What can I say about this hotel that hasn’t already been said? It was simply amazing. We took a break from our family heritage tour and headed north of Galway to stay at The Lodge at Ashford Castle—and I’m so glad we did. One of the highlights was the Hawk Walk, offered by Ireland’s School of Falconry right on the property. My husband loved it. The hotel offers other experiences as well, and there are 350 acres of trails to explore. They even provide a trail map so you can plan your route. The estate includes lakes and streams for fishing and boating, and the views from the Lodge are breathtaking. Although we stayed at the Lodge, which is a fraction of the cost of Ashford Castle, we were treated as full guests of the entire estate. We had access to everything the castle offers. The service was excellent—professional and warm. Paul at the Lodge handled everything from luggage to transportation around the estate, always with a smile. Clarissa at the front desk and Vorchek at breakfast were also wonderful. Our room was spacious, the bed was comfortable, and the pillows were amazing. My only suggestion: consider adding a door between the kitchen and dining room to reduce noise. It was loud and we asked to be moved and we were accommodated. I'm so glad we were because the meal was a solid 10. Thank you to the chef and kitchen team. This hotel was a highlight of our trip.
