Beautiful Ancient Stone Cottage, Local Walks & Pub!

Pen-y-Bont is a tastefully restored, central heated, c16 detached traditional river stone cottage.

We have fast broadband, AppleTV, Now, Netflix, Prime Video and about 100 great DVDs & BlueRays :)

Set in the picturesque village of Rowen at the heart of the Conwy Valley, in the Snowdonia National Park. A secluded riverside location that is only few minutes walk of a lively, traditional pub.

Hygiene is paramount and wherever possible we use environmentally friendly products.

Harrison Spinks super king beds in both bedrooms, both with high thread-count bedding, and the bed settee has a duck down topper for your extra comfort.

The Victorian style bathroom has a drench shower and extra body washing shower head.

The kitchen is Italian oak & granite with a range cooker and a good sized fridge freezer.

The thick river stone walls keep the cottage cool in summer whilst the central heating and wood burner combined with double glazed windows keep it cosy warm in winter. Moreover, the main room has three electric Velux windows which provide a breath of fresh air at the touch of a button.

To the front we have a cottage garden where you will find a bistro table & chairs allowing you to take morning sun with the soundtrack of the river in the background. To the rear we have a split level terrace with a BBQ and two seating areas (one with a 3M tilting parasol), with afternoon & evening sun.

If you're feeling energetic the area is a walker's paradise with all the majestic peaks of North Wales within close proximity & ancient Roman paths and the multi-award winning Bodnant Garden (Owned by the National Trust and one of the most spectacular and admired botanical gardens in Europe) right on your doorstep, along with numerous Blue Flag beaches.

There are a wealth of other activities within close proximity, including Conwy Castle, the World's longest zip-wire, surfing or for those rainy days there's various activities, like Go Below, Pili Palace & Surf Snowdonia. For great views get a cable car up the Great Orme, visit the Welsh Mountain Zoo or try the Snowdon Mountain Railway.

Please note that we give one bed per two people. If you are two people requiring two beds or three people requiring 3 beds then there will be an extra charge of £10 per night.

The cottage is gorgeous: renovated to a very high standard with a top quality finish. The sofas and beds are huge and comfortable, the kitchen is very well-equipped, the bathroom is beautifully tiled with a powerful shower and the wifi is fast. Generous check-in and out times, good communication and a lovely, quiet location. Fabulous.

Mums holiday
Rowen is a lovely place very convenient location to stay for days out such as Conwy and Betws-y-coed etc only negative points were the lack of a local convenience store and the local pub did not open until 4pm on the Wednesday although this is the process of tenancy change so could change pretty soon the idea was taking my mum for days out then going to the pub for teatime which meant having to find somewhere else to go for dinner for the first couple of days parking is sometimes a problem but our host arranged with the landlady of the pub that we could park there should this happen (which did) so this was very convenient thanks Paul…overall we had a very pleasant stay the property was great with a nice welcome gift of a bottle of wine and tub of sweets and some savoury nibbles only niggles for my mum was how to access the rear of the property to sit down when the sun was out this is accessed by a set of wooden steps at the end of the building with no door in the actual property to get there it was quite awkward for my mum although there is a large window in the bedroom which I think could be converted into a door which would be a great improvement (possibly for the future) generally this is a nice place to stay one big master bedroom and a decent sized other nice roomy living area with electric skylights which were a nice touch we didn’t bother cooking anything whilst we were here but the kitchen had all you needed overall a recommended stay in a very pretty place😉👍

Lovely cottage in beautiful location
We loved the cottage and the location. The host was very responsive if we had any issues. Our one difficulty that we encountered was that it was very hard to find a place to park. There is no assigned parking and the village is very small. When we attempted to park in one or two places, the residents were not very happy and told us to move. it was difficult to come home in the evening and have to struggle to find a parking spot. Outside of that, it was lovely and we would definitely stay there again and highly recommend it.

Glorious, historic cottage in fabulous village
Oh my, what a fabulous cottage this is! We feel humbled to have stayed in Pen-y-Bont for a glorious week in December. This classic Welsh cottage is lovingly restored, large, clean, and well furnished. The kitchen had everything we needed. The shower was warm and wonderful. The fireplace was cozy and took the last bit of chill out of the air. And the bed was super comfortable. Can't wait to come back in the summer! We loved being in Rowen and got to know several folks as we visited the Ty Gwyn pub (just a stone's throw from the cottage). Lots to do in the area, including castles, woolen mills, restaurants (great gluten-free fish and chips in both Conwy and Llanwrst), seaside, and so many fabulous hikes! You must hike up to the 13th century church! We have traveled to many locations all over the world, and our visit to Pen-y-Bont and Rowen will be cherished for a lifetime.

Not sure if you could come up with a more wonderful location to have this two room house. The walk over the bridge that goes over the steam is as beautiful as it comes. All of the fixtures are very up to date. The beds were fantastic. If you want peaceful this is the place. We loved every minute of our stay.

Beautiful week away
We had a lovely time at Paul's cottage. The location was idyllic and our 2 year old loved splashing in the river at the bottom of the path! The pub was really friendly too, we managed to stop off after a walk for a pint in the sun. The details of the local walks were a great touch. We found there was so much to do within a short drive that its become our favourite UK staycation destination so far!

A great central location to visit northern wales.
The property was beautiful and well kept up. The location is picturesque. The house is well equipped. We stayed during the week so the pub is closed on mondays and doesn’t serve food until wednesdays so keep that in mind. Conwy is close in case you need a late dinner. Overall a great place to stay and we would definitely stay again. Paul was great answering a few questions I had quickly.

This former tearoom has been carefully and tastefully converted into a beautiful, well equipped cottage. The village of Rowen is stunning, and there is so much to see and do in the locality that our three night stay was far too short.

Comfortable cosy, well equipped, cottage in stunning surroundings. Kind and generous host.
We had such a lovely stay in Paul's cottage. It was the perfect holiday base for us. It was warm and cosy, lovely wood burner. Games, jigsaws and dvds for the rainy days. Kitchen was exceptionally well equipped. Comfortable beds and everywhere spotlessly clean. A welcome gift was a generous surprise on arrival. We loved the location, just 10 minutes to the beautiful sandy beaches, the town of Conwy, stunning walks on the doorstep. Paul also went out of his way to return our son's cuddly toy we left behind. Thank you. We highly recommend Paul's cottage and will be back.

Fairytale cottage in gorgeous location!
We loved staying in this beautiful cottage! It was spotlessly clean and the setting was spectacular — like something from a movie! We especially enjoyed the beautiful landscaping and outdoor areas at the cottage, as well as the spacious and well-designed interior rooms, especially the kitchen, which is larger than it looks in the photos. And our host was great at keeping in touch and making sure we had everything we needed. Highly recommend!

Pen-y-Bont cottage is in the lovely quiet village of Rowan near Conwy, there’s a number of walks very close by. Just across the road is a quaint pub serving nice food. The Cottage is very spacious and clean and has a log burner in the lounge with enough logs supplied for our week-end stay. Also, has full central heating and underfloor heating in the main bedroom. The Bottle of Prosecco, Chocs & cheesey nibbles were a wonderful surprise & the bread, butter T. Bags came in very handy. A very enjoyable stay. Thank-you

A hidden gem
We have just returned from an amazing holiday, after a wonderful week in this glorious cottage. It is truly outstanding, this a beautifully modernised stone cottage, the moment we walked through the door it felt so homely and welcoming. Everything was immaculately clean, and the kitchen was so very well equipped. The bed was like sleeping on a huge cloud, unbelievably comfortable and so big. Quiet and peaceful all you could hear were the birds and the babbling stream. The location is just perfect, set in the beautiful village of Rowen, central to many local attractions just a short distance away. Great village pub just across the footbridge serving excellent food. Sad to come home, but can't wait to go back next year. Thank you to Paul for being the perfect host.

Top quality stay!
The property is absolutely gorgeous - a beautifully modernised old stone cottage, finished to a very high spec. The beds in both bedrooms are lusciously comfortable. The location is perfect: rural, yet 1 min walk from the pub, right next to a public footpath and a beautiful babbling brook. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves! Might we suggest perhaps some chairs (or something) in the bedrooms to put discarded clothes on, and a bit more info about where to get provisions locally (e.g. where to get fresh eggs without going to the supermarket) and nearby walks and places of interest. But generally it was totally lovely. Thanks so much.

Fantastic place. Really couldn’t have asked for more. ‘Check-in’ was so simple, and to be greeted by not only a stunning property but also some additional touches (milk etc in fridge) was soo thoughtful. The amenities - outside seating, bbq, games etc, all added to a great stay. This property really is worth a stay and will definitely be back
