This fully certified organic winery is just a short drive from Portland and makes for an interesting and enjoyable day out in the beautiful Williamette Valley.

Located on the site of an extinct volcano, Cooper Mountain Vineyards offers visitors a unique wine-tasting experience. All the wines produced on this 50-hectare, family-run farm are certified organic and biodynamic, meaning you can have a glass or two while feeling pretty good about it too! Just a half-hour drive from the centre of Portland in the Willamette Valley, the winery offers tours, tasting events and regular live music, making it an interesting and accessible diversion from your trip to the city.Cooper Mountain produces a wide range of wines, from pinot gris and pinot blanc to tocai friulano. However, it’s best known for its pinot noir and chardonnay specialities. Along with tastings of the regular wines and the barrel-aged balsamic vinegar, they also offer a sulphite-free variety – perfect for those normally allergic to wine. A small fee is charged for tastings which is refunded on purchase of a bottle. The staff inside are really knowledgeable and are more than willing to answer any questions you may have about any aspect of the organic wine production or the different wines on offer. Whether you’re a connoisseur or a novice, they’ll enhance your experience with their knowledge and good humour. You’ll also learn about the vineyard’s interesting history, and how owner Dr Bob Gross’s fascination with homeopathic medicine spawned his move into organic farming. Cooper Mountain also puts on live music events by local musicians every Friday during summer and participates in the Willamette Valley Thanksgiving Open House Weekend in November, when over 100 Willamette Valley wineries open their doors for special tasting events.Cooper Mountain Vineyard is open from 12 p. m. until 5 p. m. every day
