"Our first time at this place. In general the lodge was nice with everything you need. Wee comments: It had electric heating which didn't manage to cope with weather outside, so the lodge was as cosy/warm as it should be. Also the lack of thermostat meant that temperature couldn't be controlled. No proper heating in the bathrooms Kitchen seems to be renovated recently but for some some reason they decided to install old fashioned electric hob, instead of modern induction ones, two problems...

"The property and location were exactly like they were on the booking site. The room and facilities were excellent and communication was fast and so willing to help. Cleanliness of the room was absolutely outstanding. So many extras included. "

"Had a wonderful weekend away and this little gem is in the heart of the centre which is great. Very compact&quite small but very cute. Parked car opposite on paid carpark. Decor is beautiful,bit dark for applying make-up ladies and had trouble 1st day with no hot water but within 10mins it was sorted so all good. "

"What can i say, everything was perfect. Upon entering the building using the very clear instructions and getting our key, to entering the room. Room 2 Coniston. It was absolutely spotless, very spacious with a nice homely feel to it. Kitchen area was really good, all the appliances and accessories we needed. Very comfy & large bed. Dog friendly room with a dog bed, bowl, treats and towel. Booked again for November Perfect location, you really are at the centre of the town. "

"Lovely stay in The Ruskin room Good shower Fluffy towels Tea and coffee and cute bottle milk Just missing a few biscuits( cheeky) Single paned shash windows bit noisy/ cold in the bathroom/ bay window .Lovely scenery 4pm bit late for checking in and would like a 11am check out would be beneficial. "A beautiful house. Perfect for our annual family Christmas trip. Plenty of room to relax, lots of comfy seating in the cosy living room. The children loved the playroom. We had a couple of power cuts due to the bad weather but the host was in contact with us straight away to give us updates and the issue was fixed really quickly. We cooked a huge Christmas dinner in the spacious and fully equipped kitchen, and the dining room (complete with gorgeous, original stone floor) had a huge table big...

"The property is undoubtedly small. It was very clean and comfortable - a perfect base for exploring this wonderful area. Plenty of grocery stores and pubs/restaurants in surrounding area. A very steep narrow staircase leading to the second level of the property. I note this has been mentioned in other reviews too. Overall, my wife and I were very satisfied with the property."

Valentine’s delight of a hotel

"Excellent Period property. As an older building we were unsure what to expect but it’s immaculate throughout. Staff were incredibly friendly and we were delighted to be checked in 3 hours prior to the arranged time. Couldn’t be more conveniently located a minute walk from the castle and the Main Street where all the shops, bars and restaurants are. They don’t have onsite parking but there is a very safe pay and display car park 3 minutes walk away which was only £14 for 24 hours. That’s much cheaper than any other city hotel I’ve ever been to. We will be back. We really enjoyed our stay and the city. "

" We booked the Pines for 3 nights and we were both pleasantly surprised, it's a gem. The lodges are set around a tranquil lake and are easily accessible from the M6. The lodge was very clean and very well equipped, comfortable beds, quality bedding and towels and central heating. The staff were really friendly and informative. The bar area is relaxing and inviting, I cannot really comment on the quality of the food at the restaurant as the lodges are geared for self catering with extensive equipment, such as, a dishwasher, washing machine, microwave, toaster, everything you need is provided...so we didn't eat in the restaurant but did notice the menu prices seemed expensive. Obviously been so close to major roads we expected some noise from traffic, but it was minimal and the lodges are double glazed. We really enjoyed our stay😊 I'd definitely recommend giving the Pines a visit."
